LEFT HAND BELIEF
When God made man, He made him in perfection. Nothing was amiss as what He made in pairs were perfect matches on the human body and they were all made pairs for a reason or two. The hands, for instance, were made to support each other when they are used for tedious or meticulous work. The hands work together in one way or the other and are only separated by the sides of the body where they are placed, but they are alike in most ways. So this means that there is equality to some extent among the hands. Some people are born right handed, some are born left handed while some are blessed with the ability of being both right and left handed.
In the Nigerian society, the use of the left hand is frowned upon and in some parts even forbidden because they believe the use of the left hand is a sign of disrespect. The left hand is forbidden from the use of a list of things, among them are greetings, receiving something from an elder or a random person, serving a meal, eating, touching a product desired to be bought when pricing at market places and so on.
What brought about the decreased respect for the use of the left hand and the acceptance of the right hand alone? It is an amusing thing to see this act practiced daily. This shows that humans don't just have preferential issues with fellow humans, they also liken such issues to parts of the body!
If the left hand were to be a human with feelings, that act will be termed as alienation and it would have been so jealous of the special treatment of the right hand that it would hate the society and even the right hand as a whole. Hmmm, Nigeria...
