It was a serene, beautiful and fulfilling moment. There was no other word to describe the feeling of the whole….dream.
Meanwhile, she stood backstage all geared up to take the world. She took in a few deep breaths to put her in a relaxing mood. She heard the voices of thousands of fans cheering and chanting her name.
“Charlotte! Charlotte!” the crowd chanted continuously until the presenter announced her entrance. The thunderous applause was almost deafening but exciting as Charlotte appeared majestically on stage while the crowd cheered the more as she moved to the centre stage.
“Bonsoir Paris,” she coolly said into the microphone as the crowd responded with screams of delight and idolization. She gave a very short speech as the instrumentalists began their magic. She began on a perfect tone as the first number careened everyone silently to their fantasies. Her voice was soft, powerful and so svelte.
The first song ended softly as she was greeted with applause in return. She grinned with joy and pleasure as she gazed and blew kisses back to over eight thousand fans in the auditorium.
In a short while, she began another song which was so popular. Everyone sang along and danced and she closed her eyes and felt the rhythm and the spirit of her song. It was a great moment. All her performances have been great and perfect. At the end of the song, the applause was more thunderous than the previous one. It was accompanied with screams and whistles as the fans took pictures of her and threw teddy bears and roses at her feet. She picked up some of the gifts and greeted the crowd good night before making her exit from the stage.
As soon as she got backstage, she got handshakes and pats from her crew and her friends. She was ecstatic with excitement. Beyond the faces she saw just one face she couldn’t wait to see as soon as she got home. Just this night and she would be out of France and back home in Nigeria.
“Way to go Charlotte,” her manager said to her with a hug.
“You were the bomb,” her agent said.
“Babe, you no dey ever slack. You were totally mind blowing,” one of her friends said as she gave Charlotte a hug.
“Thank you, thank you guys so very much,” she said with excitement and appreciation.
Later on, she had a warm bath before calling her darling. She was missing him. She hadn’t seen him in three days. Afterwards, she slept briefly before leaving for the airport to get back home. She was flown in her private jet with her crew and friends as they chatted till they landed at Muritala Muhammed Airport. While the rest of them went their different ways, she was chauffeured home in her Bentley by her driver. It was awesome.
She got home so ready to see her darling husband who had prepared dinner and set up everything for his wife’s comfort and welcome home. In some seconds, she was locked in his arms as he swept her off her feet. The kiss was deep, hungry and loving as he carried her inside their humongous mansion in Lekki phase 1….
As she returned back to reality where she was sitting on a bench on the verandah of her grandfather’s 25 year-old brown coloured bungalow in Ekpoma, a little town in Edo state where she and her family of five dwelled, she smiled. Right now, she had to study so she could be promoted to year 9. Only a matter of time. Only.
